Hardscapes

When it comes to hardscapes we can build things like walkways, water features, retaining walls, and other types of features. We don’t want to bore you with the list because at the end of the day what we want to provide is a unique solution for your particular needs. Another thing that we want to point out right off the bat, is that we are going to be able to work with hardscapes made from a variety of different materials. You won’t necessarily have to choose between concrete paving stones, and even different types of gravel to be able to create these surfaces.

What Type of Hardscapes Work Best Here In Chicago?

There is no question that in the spring and summertime virtually any type of surface can be made to look the part. One of the things though that we tend to advise against is overly smooth concrete surfaces in certain outdoor areas. This is just a safety measure. We don’t want folks having to risk their lives walking through icy walkways or steps in the wintertime. That does not mean that concrete or paving stones are out of the question. It does mean that we are typically going to advise that you add some type of texture, particularly to walkable hardscapes.

Decorative Hardscapes

A lot of the things that we build end up having a dual purpose, and that’s something that we take a lot of pride in. For example, if you want to build a concrete retaining wall with a rose garden there are multiple things that we have to account for when we are building this surface. Obviously, we want to make sure that it looks the part. At the same time, we have to ensure that it’s functional in every way. If you want to explore the possibilities that we have in store for you make that call to us!

How Long Are Hardscapes Made To Last?

The answer to this question is going to be completely dictated by the type of material that the particular structure is made from. We also have to take into account other factors. Like how much foot traffic for example, a walkway could be getting. If the surface around the hardscape is usually very swampy and wet the hardscapes could start to sink in. There are other types of hardscapes that can hold up for ages because they are not too damaged by elements or anything.

We Can Work Around Existing Fixtures

We know that not in every single situation we are going to be able to remove everything that is in place to put in something new. Maybe you already have certain hardscapes that you want to keep. If that’s the case we can help you manage that. We talk about this in our design and installation page. We are perfectly comfortable working around any of the fixtures that you have on your property. Obviously, we are referring to the fixtures that you want to keep!
